KILIFI, KENYA (December 11, 2015) - MTG United and Mombasa Olympic are the new MTG champions 2015 for club teams in respectively the open age and the under 16 year age category. The tournament was held from 9 - 11th December 2015 at Sokoke Secondary School and Kakunjuni community field.
Mombasa Olympic beat Amani Kibera in the under 16 year category with goals from Louise Kwekwe and Theresia Gakii. One day earlier during the semifinals, Mombasa Olympic kicked 2013 and 2014 winner Beijing Raiders out of the tournament.
And the MTG tournament is on!
Sixteen of the eighteen registered teams ultimately started in the annual MTG tournament. The teams that played at Kakanjuni community field were cheered by the local community members while the teams that played at Sokoke Secondary School were encouraged by MTG visitors and MTG girls who are participating the MTG residential training.
KILIFI, KENYA (December 8, 2015) - The annual MTG tournament for girls' football teams will be held from 9th December - 11th December 2015 at Sokoke Secondary School and Kakanjuni field. Eighteen teams participate in the fifth edition of the event, doubling the 2014 numbers in both age categories.
Six teams participate in the age category under 16 year. The teams are Likoni Starlets (Mombasa), Mombasa Olympic (Mombasa), CREATA (Migori), Amani Olympic (Nairobi), TYSA (Kitale) and the 2013 and 2014 MTG champion Beijing Raiders (Nairobi).
December 1st is Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. It celebrates generosity and the joy of giving. At this day we invite you to give to MTG and in particular towards MTG's education programme.
As Moving the Goalposts, we believe that in the power of education to unlock the potential for a girl's future. We see the challenges our girls face including being held back from school due to poverty or in to be put into child labour, giving up on school after early pregnancy when they lack a support structure, and a general lack of self belief.
The MTG divisional champions' league finals in Kwale, Bahari and Kaloleni will take place on Friday 27th November, 2015. More than 5000 MTG girls and young women in more than 300 teams in Kilifi and Kwale Counties have finished their football leagues that started in March and ended in October, 2015.
KILIFI, KENYA (October 21, 2015) - After winning the Beyond Sport Health Award in 2013, Moving the Goalposts has won the Beyond Sport UNICEF Safeguarding Children in Sport Award in 2015. The award was presented on October 21 to MTG Executive Director Rachel Muthoga during a ceremony at the Beyond Sport Summit in London. MTG was shortlisted for the Beyond Sport UNICEF Safeguarding Children in Sport Award with Caribbean Sport and Development Agency (CSDA), Trinidad & Tobago and Coaches Across Continents, USA.

The International Day of the Girl celebration in Kilifi County will take place on 9th October 2015 at Vitengeni Assistant County Commissioner's ground beginning at 9.00 am. The International Day of the Girl celebration in Kilifi County will take place on 10th October 2015 at Mwangaza Visionary School from 9.00 am.
