The 17th Edition of Moving the Goalposts’ Primary School Tournament kicks off today Saturday May 18, 2019 with 90 teams set to take part with several matches lined up in Kilifi,
The tournament will start with pool matches that will run between 18th May and 22nd June, 2019 for Kilifi County. Thereafter, the knock will follow suit on 29th and 30th June, 2019 with six schools set to face off in the semis and final stages on Saturday 13th July 2019 at MTG Grounds in Kilifi County.
Kwale County Editions
On the other hand, football matches for Kwale County will be played between 8th and 22nd June, 2019 with a total of 15 primary school teams participating. The final matches will be staged at Libra Community grounds on 6th July, 2019.
Life Skill Sessions and Leadership roles
The peer education sessions that will be led by MTG peer educators during the tournament will cover topics on Menstruation and Teenage Pregnancy. The peers will have the opportunity to share and learn about causes and prevention of teenage pregnancy. They will also learn how to make informed Sexual Reproductive Health choices. Notably, MTG trained beneficiaries will utilize the platform to horn their leadership skills on refereeing, first aid and safeguarding.
Moving the Goalposts is a sport for development organization that uses football to empower girls in the rural and urban areas of Kilifi and Kwale counties. Our goal is to promote football as an area of opportunity for girls and young women, enabling the protection of rights, realization of potential and a platform for leadership development.
