At just 17 years old, Sharlet Mnyazi's story is one of courage.

Becoming a mother at the age of 15 and returning to school 6 months after having her baby, Sharlet found herself navigating a world of challenges and responsibilities far beyond her years. Born into a family of eight siblings, with hardworking parents striving to make ends meet, her Dad, a farmer rearing domestic animals while her mother, a housewife, her journey was marked by hardship from the very beginning.

Life for Sharlet was a delicate balance between motherhood, education, and the relentless pursuit of a brighter future. With each passing day, she faced the harsh reality of financial strain, working tirelessly as a casual laborer to provide for her baby and sustain her dreams of education. The weight of responsibility often forced her to make heart-wrenching sacrifices, missing classes to ensure that her child's needs were met.

Yet, amidst the trials, Sharlet's spirit remained unbroken. She found solace and support within Moving The Goalposts' young mothers' group at Mbudzi dispensary in Ganze. Her innate leadership qualities shone brightly here, earning her the esteemed position of chairlady. She mobilized her peers, inspiring them to embrace the transformative power of education and empowerment.

Sharlet's aspirations stretch far beyond the confines of her past. With a steadfast resolve to become a lawyer, she dreams of a future where she can champion the rights of the marginalized and oppressed, where justice and equality reign supreme. Her words of wisdom echo with a profound resonance, urging young girls to seize the power of education and reminding young mothers that their journey is one of endless possibilities, not defined by the challenges they face.

Today, as we celebrate Sharlet's triumph, we witness the dawn of a new chapter in her journey. Awarded a full scholarship courtesy of KCB to St. Thomas Girls High School in Kilifi, she stands at the threshold of a brighter tomorrow.

Congratulations, Sharlet, on your well-deserved success!

Onward, with courage. Onward, with hope.
