Dreams, Jerseys, and a New Season: Inside MTG United’s Unveiling
By Deo Okoko
On 25 September 2025, the Kilifi sun decided to show off. It was hot enough to remind us it was football season, but bright enough to light up a day that will stay in our memories for a long time. MTG UNITED was officially unveiled for the 2025/26 FKF Women’s National Super League Zone A season, and the atmosphere was pure celebration.
The guest list was stacked. MTG staff came ready with their big smiles, the players stood tall in their white jerseys, the coaches had that look of “we can win this thing,” and county officials joined us to add weight to the occasion.
Her Excellency Flora Mbetsa Chibule, Deputy Governor of Kilifi County and Patron of MTG UNITED, reminded us all why women’s football matters so much. She was joined by Boniface Karimi, Director of Sports, and Joshua Mazera, Economic Advisor in the Office of the Governor. With leaders like that on the pitch side, you could almost say the county government itself was doing warm-up stretches with us.
For the players, this unveiling was bigger than new jerseys and photographs. It was about dreams. Some want to play for the national team. Others hope to inspire younger girls who look up to them from the sidelines. All of them want to prove that Kilifi talent is not just for friendlies at the village pitch, it can shine on any field in Kenya and beyond.
The vibe? Let’s just say it felt like a Kenyan wedding. There were cheers, ululations, music everywhere, and enough excitement that if the footballs had legs, they too would have joined the dance floor. At one point, it was hard to tell who was louder the sound system or the fans.
As we look ahead to the new season, you can be part of this journey too. Visit our website and grab official MTG UNITED merchandise, t-shirts, caps, wrist bands. Wear them proudly at the games, or even to the market, so that when someone asks “uko na team gani?” you can answer with confidence: “MTG UNITED!”
The unveiling wasn’t just a ceremony. It was the kick-off to a season full of hard work, big dreams, and goals waiting to be scored.
