Economic Pathways & Livelihoods
Girl Empowerment Programs: Economic Independence & Leadership for Young Women
Equipping adolescent girls and young women across Coastal Kenya with vocational skills, entrepreneurship toolkits, and financial literacy to break generational poverty.
Sustainable Girl Empowerment Programs Across Coastal Kenya
Moving The Goalposts delivers community-rooted girl empowerment programs across Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa, and Tana River counties. While sports open the door to self-confidence, our livelihoods pillar ensures young women translate life skills into long-term economic autonomy.
We address high youth unemployment, school dropouts, and early marriage barriers by providing market-driven skills development, mentorship, and enterprise seed grants. Over 15,000 young women have gained business and vocational qualifications through our holistic pipeline.

Our Livelihoods & Empowerment Framework
What begins with teamwork on the field evolves into bold ambition off it. Our livelihood initiatives are designed to build a bridge from passion to purpose by supporting girls and young women aged 15–25 with:

Vocational Training & Apprenticeships
Technical skill acquisition in hospitality, tailoring, ICT, and renewable trades linked to local job markets.

Financial Literacy & Savings Groups
Community-based savings and lending groups (VSLAs) teaching bookkeeping, credit management, and micro-investments.

Micro-Enterprise & Seed Funding
Pitch competitions, business incubation, and non-repayable starter capital for girl-led enterprises.

Peer Mentorship & Career Guidance
One-on-one coaching connecting young entrepreneurs with established female professionals and trade mentors.
Local Solutions, Lasting Impact
We work with young women in four coastal counties in Kenya, areas where opportunities are limited but potential is limitless. With guidance from the community, mentors, local partners, and MTG alumnae, participants receive training that is rooted in their realities and designed to create tangible results.
Life Beyond Limits
Economic independence is more than a paycheck. It’s the ability to make choices, support a family, pursue education, and live with dignity. MTG’s Livelihoods program is transforming what’s possible for thousands of girls and young women in Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Tana River counties in Kenya.
