MTG Safeguarding Commitment
Holistic Safeguarding Culture
Safeguarding at MTG transcends policy, it is integral to our culture. We strive to prevent sexual exploitation, abuse, discrimination, and harassment through ongoing awareness and behaviour change initiatives among all stakeholders (staff, volunteers, partners, visitors, donors).
Child Protection Embedded in Programming
Through our Child Protection program, MTG implements comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of all young people involved in sports and related activities, proactively addressing harm, abuse, and neglect.
Policy Governance & Role Definition
Our safeguarding is institutionalised through leadership roles, such as the Safeguarding Officer, who is responsible for implementing and monitoring MTG’s safeguarding policy and Code of Conduct, as well as policy updates, risk assessments, incident management, referrals, and capacity building.
Training, Reporting & Response
Staff, volunteers, and community champions undergo regular safeguarding and PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse & Harassment) training. Incident response emphasises survivor-centred care, rights-based approaches, and coordination with service providers. Continuous learning ensures that safeguarding evolves in response to emerging risks and threats.
Organisational Integration & Accountability
Safeguarding is mainstreamed across programming, finance, HR, and M&E processes. Annual budgets include safeguarding resources, and key staff uphold compliance through reporting and continuous learning frameworks.
Why It Matters
MTG’s safeguarding framework reinforces trust across all stakeholders, ensuring that football and development programs remain safe, respectful, and empowering for girls and young women. It isn’t just a policy, it’s woven into every activity, relationship, and decision.
