Building Pathways to Independence
At Moving the Goalposts (MTG), we believe that when girls and young women have the skills, confidence, and resources to earn a living, they unlock the power to shape their futures and uplift their communities in the process.
Through our Livelihoods program, we equip adolescent girls and young women with critical life and business skills to help them thrive beyond the pitch. We know that football is just the starting point. What follows is a journey of economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.
From Play To Purpose
What begins with teamwork on the field evolves into bold ambition off it. Our livelihood initiatives are designed to build a bridge from passion to purpose by supporting girls and young women aged 15–25 with:
Vocational Training
Hands-on skills in tailoring, beauty therapy, ICT, agriculture, and more.
Entrepreneurship Support
Business planning, mentorship, and access to start-up capital.
Financial Literacy
Practical knowledge on budgeting, saving, and managing income.
Linkages to Employment
We connect participants to job opportunities, internships, and apprenticeships.
Local Solutions, Lasting Impact
We work with young women in four coastal counties in Kenya, areas where opportunities are limited but potential is limitless. With guidance from the community, mentors, local partners, and MTG alumnae, participants receive training that is rooted in their realities and designed to create tangible results.
Life Beyond Limits
Economic independence is more than a paycheck. It’s the ability to make choices, support a family, pursue education, and live with dignity. MTG’s Livelihoods program is transforming what’s possible for thousands of girls and young women in Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Tana River counties in Kenya.
