Halima Kadzitu, Divisional Assistant – Kwale

Halima Kadzitu is a community development practitioner with over a decade of experience working with adolescent girls and young women. Her journey began as a football player for the Moving the Goalposts United Team, where she developed a deep passion for sports as a tool for empowerment before transitioning into community development.
As an alumna of Moving the Goalposts and a champion for girls’ and women’s rights, Halima plays a pivotal role in coordinating eight communities in Matuga Subcounty, Kwale. She ensures that girls have the opportunity to engage in sports, particularly football, while gaining essential knowledge on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Each year, she works with approximately 1,600 girls, fostering a strong movement that supports leadership, education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Halima’s exceptional community mobilization and facilitation skills have enabled her to break barriers and recruit more girls particularly from the predominantly Muslim communities of Kwale County to participate in football. Her efforts continue to create safe spaces, build confidence, and empower young women to reach their full potential.
She holds a certificate and diploma in Community Development from the African Institute of research and Shanzu Teachers and remains committed to advancing gender equity through sports and education.
